OMAHA — Republican presidential candidate John McCain is expected to campaign in Nebraska in July.

Hal Daub is the Nebraska chairman for McCain’s campaign. He says McCain will come to the state.

Daub didn’t have details Thursday, including where McCain would visit.

McCain has been the presumptive GOP nominee since the first week of March. He added Nebraska to his list of primary victories Tuesday, garnering 87 percent of the vote. Ron Paul was the only other candidate on the ballot.

An Associated Press call seeking information from McCain’s campaign wasn’t immediately returned Thursday morning.

" If McCain is coming here, his internal polling must show that the state is competitive and confirms that other poll by SurveyUSA. Nebraska a possible swing state? How exciting. "

" John McCain and Hal Daub...... can anyone say same ole, same ole ! If anyone thinks that John McCain is anything but the same thing we have had the last 8 years just look at who surrounds him. He can try to distance himself from Bush and the recent Repub screw ups but he just can't get away from it anymore. He should have stayed the way he was when he ran the first time, I actually repected him for speaking his mind, now he is just a Republican recording. "

" If you looked at McCain's congressional voting record you might find that McCain is not Bush! "

" That's Terrific! Glad to see McCain come to Nebraska. He is certainly not GWB. Don't agree with him on several issues, want to hear him address his policies and past votes. Instead of dismissing a candidate, I'd rather make an informed decision! "

Age wrote on May 15, 2008 10:19 am:
" Given his age, I imagine that July is the only month hot enough for him to come to Nebraska. Perhaps McCain should spare the country the risk of him becoming President and retire to Arizona- like other people his age. "

Late ODay wrote on May 15, 2008 10:20 am:
" Frankly, who cares if he comes to town? Anyone who is actively portraying himself as George Bush's third term is not getting anywhere near the Oval Office. You won't even remember his name in three years. HE won't remember it in two. "

" It'll be nice to see a genuine war hero. Remember we're electing the leader of the free world and our commander-in-chief, not a community-organizer-in-chief.

This should be an interesting election. The political landscape may be re-shaping itself before our eyes. The GOP's 3 early congressional losses so far apparently have the GOP scrambling to distance themselves from G.W. Bush. Who can blame them. With McCain as the standard-bearer, the GOP may be following behind him toward more inventive non-traditional policy positions for them. That's good news. Too bad Obama stole the Democratic nomination from poor little Hillary. "

" GWB has been Presisent in a time like no other. We have not had another attack from terrorists, who hate us, in the past 8 years. I want a President who is willing to protect us and make difficult decisions regardless of popular opinion. Go McCain! "

" I did look at his voting record and he has flip-flopped on several issues, but make no mistake...he , from his rhetoric, would be worse than POTUS ...if you can imagine that!!! "

" I can say is why bother. Nebraska will vote republican no matter who runs. Those I spoke with said they don't care if GW did spoil the economy and McCain is a lot like him, they will vote party. "

" Jes, McCain voted with Bush 95% of the time in 2007. I'll grant you that he's not childlike and is reasonable most of the time. But just because the media thinks he's a "maverick" doesn't make it so. "

Westside Johnny wrote on May 15, 2008 6:12 pm:
" It’s funny seeing all the responses picking on John McCain because of his age, but don’t dare pick on someone because of their race or gender. In my opinion ageism is just as bad. But then again, I’m not one of the pseudo-intellectual liberal elitist that sit around in their dorm rooms and coffee houses making up how they think the rules should be and belittling and berating the intelligence of those who don’t agree with them. When Obama was in Omaha, I saw a picture of someone wearing a T-shirt that said, “I think therefore I vote Democrat”. I reality it should have read “I think I’m better that you (or smarter than you), therefore I vote Democrat” "

Scared wrote on May 16, 2008 9:40 am:
" If McCain's coming then he must be scared about losing one or two electoral votes. This probably won't be the last we of him (or Obama) before November. "

George Bush wrote on May 16, 2008 3:27 pm:
" I feel sorry for McCain. The Republican party has gone Scizoid over McCain. With a lowly 27% approval of George W McCain has to distance himself big time yet he has to appeal to the crazies who do approve of George. So he says stuff like "we will be in Iraq for 100 years." He might as well just shoot himself in the foot as say that to America. Oh sure, Nebraska, for sure Lincoln, still love George so McCain best hide his feminine side when he comes here or he will lose this State for sure. No wimpy "take care of the Children" sissy stuff will work here, just the "Let's woop rear" will get him votes here and we all know it. "

Hey Soylent wrote on May 16, 2008 4:32 pm:
" I understand your pain; many true conservatives feel John McCain is a bad nominee for the Republican party. Might I suggest you cast your vote for Bob Barr, or perhaps write in a candidate of your choosing? Your vote is sacred, after all. Why waste it on someone you don't feel comfortable supporting? "

ta wrote on May 16, 2008 6:37 pm:
" If you belive we have not been attacked in 8 years of GWB then maybe you should read something. This country is in deep trouble. The enemy wants to fight in Irac because that's the plan. The 9/11 was just the begining. The war is what they wanted se we would send not only our money but we also have spent our kids money. Face facts they have attack the USA every day in Dollars. The beat down the USSR doing this. "
