Residents were evacuated from an apartment building early Tuesday after a fire broke out in one of the units.

Firefighters were called to 3920 S. 46th St., Apt. 1, just before 1 a.m., said Deputy Fire Chief Pat Borer.

The damage was confined to that unit, and Borer said he was not aware of any injuries.

There was an estimated $30,000 damage, Borer said. The cause was still under investigation.
