The Lincoln Saltdogs earned their first victory of the season Saturday with a 14-8 victory against Pensacola in Pensacola, Fla.

Lincoln (1-2) scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning to tie the game 7-7. The Saltdogs then took a 10-7 lead on center fielder Johnny Kaplan’s three-run, inside-the-park home run.

Lincoln added two runs in both the eighth and ninth innings.

Three Saltdogs, Kaplan, first baseman Dustin Yount and second baseman Eduardo Rios, had three RBIs apiece. Yount also hit a home run in the top of the third.

Former major-league All-Star Felix Jose rebounded with two hits and two RBIs after a 0-for-4 debut Friday for Lincoln.

The Saltdogs’ bullpen gave up only three hits and one run in six innings of relief of starter Ryan Trytten. Trytten gave up seven runs, five of them earned, on eight hits. He also walked two. The five Saltdog relievers combined for six more free passes.
